Intstalling the Root
& Intermediate Certificates:
You must first install the certificates attached
to your email:
- Install the GlobalSignRootCA.crt
certificate by double clicking on the corresponding
file this will start an installation wizard
- select Place all certificates
in the following store and click browse
- select Show physical stores
- select Trusted Root Certification
Authorities
- select Local Computer,
click OK
- back in the wizard, click
Next, click Finish
Repeat the same for the GlobalSignPartnersCA.crt
certificate and ComodoClass3SecurityServicesCA.crt,
however choose to place the certificates in the
Intermediate Certification Authorities store.
You may check that the certificates
are in the correct stores by:
- Start
-> Run -> type mmc Enter
- Console -> Add/Remove
Snap-in
- Add -> Certificates
-> Add -> Computer Account ->
Local Computer -> Finish
- Close the Add Standalone Snap-in
dialog box
- OK the Add/Remove Snap-in
window
- In the Console window, select
Certificates (Local Computer) in the
left hand pane
- Then go to View ->
Options -> select Logical certificate
stores -> OK
- Ensure that the GlobalSignRootCA
certificate appears under Trusted Root Certification
Authorities, and that GlobalSignPartnersCA
and ComodoClass 3SecurityServicesCA appears
under Intermediate Certification Authorities.
Installing your SSL Certificate:
- Save your certificate from the
email and onto your webserver
- Open Internet Services Manager,
or the custom MMC containing the Internet Information
Services snap-in.
- Expand Internet Information Services
(if needed) and browse to the Web site you have
a pending certificate request on.
- Right-click on the site and then
click Properties.
- Click the Directory Security
tab.
- Under the Secure Communications
section, click Server Certificate.
- On the Web Site Certificate Wizard,
click Next.
- Choose to Process the Pending
Request and Install the Certificate.
Click Next.
- Type in the location of your
certificate (you may also browse to locate your
certificate), and then click Next.
- Read the summary screen to be
sure that you are processing the correct certificate,
and then click Next.
- You will see a confirmation screen.
When you have read this information, click
Next.
- You now have a server certificate
installed.
Important: You must now restart the computer
You may want to test the Web site
to ensure that everything is working correctly.
Be sure to use https:// when you test connectivity
to the site.
